Dick Louch started riding a bicycle at the age of six and has never stopped. He grew up exploring the ravines and streets of Toronto by bike, studied math and business at the University of Waterloo, and selected Ottawa to live for the variety and quality of cycling the region offers. An avid cyclist of all stripes, he enjoys road biking, mountain biking and commuting around town by bike. As a recreational cyclist, Dick is knowledgeable of the many hidden treasures best discovered by bike in and around Ottawa and takes pleasure in sharing his knowledge of the unique riches that the region offers to the curious cyclist.
Dick turned his personal passion for cycling towards helping others share the same excitement and pleasure that cycling has brought him. Since 2007 has been a valuable contributor to the team that organizes the annual Ottawa MS Bike Tour, and in 2010 founded Capital Vélo Fest, an Ottawa non-profit organization with the mission to “Inspire people of all ages to ride a bike more often”. This organization launched Ottawa’s annual bicycle festival, an annual cycling event featuring Ottawa’s Tour La Nuit, a magical ride under the stars without any cars on streets through the city.
His favourite bike is SMOOCH, a pedal-powered smoothie machine that blends up delicious concoctions of all flavours!
