Join our Electric Bike tour to Gatineau Park and conquer the hills easily on an e-bike! You will be riding one of our pedal-assist e-bikes on Ottawa and Gatineau’s safe and scenic, beautiful bike trails in a small group tour. A worry-free experience with our knowledgeable guide, this fun e-bike tour mostly involves riding with a few stops to see the park’s highlights. You will see the park’s top spots, with plenty of opportunities to take photos and enjoy the views. We’ll stop in the charming village of Old Chelsea for coffee/tea and snacks, plus time to chat with your fellow tourmates and guide.

Starting at our downtown location on historic Sparks Street, your journey with us begins with proper bike fitting and safety review. We will show you how your pedal-assist electric bike works for your maximum safety, enjoyment, and fun on this exciting Cycling in Gatineau Park tour.

You will bike with us along the picturesque Ottawa River Pathways. We will stop at William Commanda Bridge so you can take a few Instagram-worthy shots of the River and observe the bustling activity of locals riding their bikes, walking, and running. Our passionate local guides will fill you in with a bit of history about the region and the development of this iconic bridge. 

Next, you will bike to Gatineau and continue along the Gatineau Bike Paths, known as the Voyageurs pathway, to the entrance of the park. As you ride further into the park, the hills get steeper but it will feel easier pedalling an e-bike. 

Once you conquer one of the steepest hills of the park, you will be rewarded with a beautiful view of Pink Lake. Take a 10-15 minute stop here to observe and admire the lake and its surroundings. 

Continuing into the park and a few kilometers further, you’ll be transported to a charming enclave filled with historic architecture and magnificent gardens. 

You will enjoy the beautiful gardens, trees, and shade at the Estate, home to a former Prime Minister of Canada and learn from your guide about the Canadian political system and events. 

Next, you will continue the scenic ride to the charming village of Old Chelsea and stop at a local cafe for a well-earned treat. 

The ride back would be mostly downhill and along the Gatineau River pathway, another scenic and safe pathway. 

There will be yet another stop at Lac Leamy beach and park to soak in even more nature and fresh air.

The last stop would be at the lookout of the Museum of History, where the architecture is inspired by Canadian Nature and Indigenous history and you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the Parliament buildings against the backdrop of the Ottawa River.

End your tour with a ride back to the Escape Tours & Rentals shop. There, you can ask your guide more questions about what to do next or where to eat and drink in Ottawa.

Parking: We highly recommend leaving your car at your hotel. Street parking in our neighbourhood is difficult and the meters/time restrictions can be confusing. But if you must drive, here are a few underground parking lots: National Art Centre Parkade (99 Elgin St.), World Exchange Plaza (Metcalfe and Albert entrance), City Hall (110 Laurier Ave W).

Is riding in Gatineau Park difficult?
Gatineau Park is very hilly. The use of multi-gear ebikes makes the experience very smooth but it is best for moderate to experienced riders. You can expect about 450m of climbing, smoothed out by pedal-assist power on a high-quality e-bike. 

What if it rains?
Your ride will continue in light rain. We supply you with rain ponchos. 

In case of heavy rain or storm forecast, your trip will be cancelled — the final call will be made two hours before the start time of your tour, and we’ll contact you by phone and email. 

If your tour is cancelled due to the weather, you will be fully refunded or can choose to keep your credit for an alternative date or time.

Can I bring my own bicycle?
No. To ensure consistency in service and the quality of experience and to avoid potential repair issues, we will use our fleet ebikes for this tour.
