Fat bikes have oversized tires which make them comfortable to ride on soft surfaces such as snow or sand. Fat bike tires generally act as suspension. Inflated at very low pressure, the tires absorb the majority of shocks for maximum comfort. Besides the oversized tires, this type of bike is similar to any other bicycle.
Despite its bulky look, the big tires provide lots of stability and make it very easy to ride a fat bike. Our rental winter fat bikes are in fact very light.
Although, you can ride any bikes in winter , due to the ice and snow conditon in Ottawa, it is best to ride a fat bike or install studded tires on your regular bike.
